From Google News Search: "Conspiracies" Conspiracies - How Important ARE they in human history ? Q. The mass media is keen that we do not believe in conspiracies. And yet 'official' conspiracies are sold to us over and over. How important ARE conspiracies in human history and why are we discouraged from believing in their reality ? Asked by democracynow - Tue Jun 26 00:24:15 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. As other answers have pointed out the word conspiracy can cover a lot of activities. However if you are asking about the "conspiracy" theories that seek to explain the world in terms of secret societies or groups within the government that are actually in control, the answer is the reporters in the media do not find them very believable. It is a form of wishful thinking to believe that some clever powerful group is actually running things instead that we are at the mercy of the stupidities and incompetence of our leaders and subject to the random events that determine history. The media fears that people who believe in such conspiracies will not pay attention to the problems that can be corrected by an informed public and will ignore real… [cont.] Answered by meg - Tue Jun 26 04:19:42 2007 What are the conspiracies of Manila Cathedral? Q. I'm talking more about the 9/11 conspiracy theories than anything. If you look at why they believe it, I think they actually have a good reason. I'm not saying I believe it, but I could see how someone would be skeptical of 3 steel skyscrapers collapsing the way they did. I'm just wondering why they are labeled crazy for questioning it? Isn't good that some people are keeping an eye on our leaders, and questioning what they do? Power tends to corrupt, remember. Asked by I Liberty - Wed Oct 15 23:33:44 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. When a conspiracy theory is so unreasonable that it defies logic or physics or factual knowledge, we think of the person as a nutjob. If you look closer at all the little ideas these people who think 9/11 was an inside job suggest, you will find that they, too, are nutjobs. Skepticism is good, watching leaders for misconduct is good, but not when it reaches levels of stupidity. Sometimes people can come up with arguments that sound good, sound logical, and seem to make sense, but they often have to ignore other factors to come up with it. Or they make up their own facts. If a watermelon is 97% water, and a cloud is 100% water, then a watermelon is 3% away from being a cloud. Sounds logical, doesn't it?
