Politics is a process by which groups of people make collective decisions. The term is generally applied to behavior within civil governments, but politics has been observed in other group interactions, including corporate, academic and religious institutions. It consists of "social relations involving authority or power" and refers to the regulation of a political unit, and to the methods and tactics used to formulate and apply policy.

The word "Politics" comes from the Greek word Πολιτικά (politika) from politic (adj.), modeled on Aristotle's "affairs of state," the name of his book on governing and governments, which was rendered in English mid-15 century as Latinised "Polettiques." In Latin, this was "politicus" and in French "politique". Thus it became "politics" in Middle English (see the Concise Oxford Dictionary).

Western Politics - Is there really a separation between the Church and the State?
Q. Does the "Church" have too much influence in politics today? Specifically the current US elections?
Asked by Conners - Fri Sep 12 10:43:55 2008 - - 6 Answers - 1 Comments

A. There is no separation these days! The only line that is never crossed is the government having an official church. However, the un-official church is abundantly clear, and any politician not belonging to that church is frowned upon.

What are good ways of increasing Christian influence on politics and education?
Q. We live in Godless times. Secularism is creeping into politics and education at an alarming rate. Without good countermeasures, heathens and atheists will overrun the country. What actions have you taken in your community to combat secularism?

A. What do you mean "Secularism is creeping into politics and education"? In a pluralistic society, it is actually religion that does not belong in either of those arenas and must be removed when it sneaks in. Have you read the Bill of Rights? The first two clauses of the First Amendment are pretty clear: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of a religion, nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."
